Welcome to Bayer MaterialScience's Polycarbonate eUpdate.

This special edition of the electronic newsletter will provide you with an inside look at the Bayer MaterialScience booth (#1676 South) at NPE 2006 (the International Plastics Showcase), June 19-23 in Chicago.

Bayer MaterialScience at NPE 2006

The ideas of today form the innovations of tomorrow. Whether an existing product is the basis for a new technology or a concept becomes a reality, it takes vision to recognize potential and to bring an idea to life. And vision is what Bayer MaterialScience embodies.

Bayer MaterialScience is committed to utilizing its innovative materials, solutions and technical expertise to help make its customers’ visions become realities. That commitment is carried out under a central theme of “VisionWorks” and is clearly evident in the company’s booth (#1676 South) at NPE 2006.

The booth features two primary thematic areas: VisionWorks Today and VisionWorks Tomorrow. As the names suggest, VisionWorks Today highlights Bayer’s innovative products and solutions for existing markets and technologies, while VisionWorks Tomorrow highlights Bayer’s strategic focus areas for future applications and technologies.

VisionWorks Today

The VisionWorks Today area of the booth highlights current innovative applications featuring Bayer MaterialScience products. Applications cover the medical, consumer goods, electronics, automotive and industrial markets. In addition, visitors can explore a world of color made possible by Fantasia ®, the industry’s most complete, one-stop solution for color and special effects.

VisionWorks Tomorrow

Visitors to the VisionWorks Tomorrow area of the NPE booth will get a glimpse at the emerging technologies that will become part of our lives in the future. This area highlights technologies in the fields of advanced lightweight structures, solid state lighting, medical technology, defense technology, modern electronics, alternative energy, holography and sustainable chemistry.

**Sneak Peak: ZaZen at NPE**

This state-of-the-art concept car demonstrates Bayer's leadership in providing innovative solutions and will be showcased at NPE. The result of an ongoing collaboration between Bayer MaterialScience and Swiss automotive design specialist, Rinspeed, the "zaZen" features lighting technology never before seen in automotive design. A large thrid brake light illuminates the translucent, teardrop-shaped roof made of highly tranparent Makrolon polycarbonate resin in such a way that it creates a holographic effect across the end section of the roof.

Live From NPE

Stories highlighting our innovative products and solutions will be posted throughout the week. Stay tuned to the Bayer MaterialScience NAFTA Web site for live updates from the show floor.
